Particularly in view of the SRC's technological focus, we are aware of our responsibility and challenge to significantly increase the proportion of female scientists in research and teaching. In order to achieve this goal, the SRC will use and support the differentiated portfolio of measures developed by the university on the topics of equality, career planning and the compatibility of work and family life.
On the other hand, the SRC will draw on the measures used in IntCDC and SFB1244, which take into account the specific technical situation in the SRC. These measures relate to the areas of continuing education, mentoring programmes, scientific communication and external evaluation. Examples are "Unconscious Bias" workshops, mentoring for women scientists in SRC, the teaching of existing role models, headhunting with regard to diversity and inclusion, summer schools, open days in research laboratories, communication of demonstrators, public lecture series, exhibitions, awards for outstanding master's and doctoral theses by female scientists working at the institutes participating in SRC, as well as Diversity Audits. The aim is not only to strengthen equality and diversity in the SRC, but also to sensitise a new generation of scientists and researchers beyond the SRC to the responsibility and opportunities of implementing equality and diversity on a daily basis.
